International Facilities

Dallas is becoming the “center for worldwide trade” for several reasons. Shipping companies are now investigating alternative routes to avoid congestion and delay at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. New destinations such as the newly-developed deep water ports in Mexico as well as new-and-improved routes through the Panama Canal (due to increased capacity) are now viable and cost-effective options for shippers and provide the quickest way to achieving fast, efficient, and on-time delivery of goods to major U.S. population centers.

UP Dallas Intermodal Terminal (DIT) – The 360-acre facility was built with quality in mind, this clean, safe and well-lit intermodal facility provides nearby highway and interstate access to maximize trucker convenience. The DIT is currently handling 365,000 lifts per year, with 97% of the containers coming directly from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. At full built-out, the DIT will have capacity to handle up to 600,000 lifts per year.

Trucks can gain access to the DIT via a high-tech, biometric secured 10-lane AGS (automated gate system) entrance. This technology allows a trucker to process a container through the gate in 30-90 seconds, as compared to a national average of four minutes. The facility boasts 4 loading docks, and on-site repair facility, real-time Oasis Software System, and a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week Operation Facility System

Proposed BNSF Intermodal Facility – Under terms of the executed agreement between BNSF and The Allen Group, BNSF has the option to purchase a minimum of 387 acres and up to a maximum of 530 acres of land within The Hub for a construction of an intermodal facility. The site under consideration fronts 8,000 feet of BNSF track in the cities of Dallas and Lancaster and represents a portion of the 2.5 miles of BNSF track frontage located within The Hub.
